VALE Partnership
2018-2019 Community Visits
In the fall of 2018 through February 2019, the LATP staff and representatives from Vale completed visits to all the communities in Nunatsiavut, both Sheshatshiu and Natuashish, Goose Bay, Northwest River and Labrador City, despite many weather delays. We have plans to visit southern Labrador in the spring.

At each of these community meetings, we presented a slide show explaining the various training programs available related to Underground Mine industry. We often met individually with clients to help them complete applications for the training.

VALE Community Information Sessions
Vale has sanctioned the development of the underground deposit at Voisey's Bay. This will extend the life of the operation until at least 2032. An additional 400 full-time positions will be created at Voisey's Bay to support the underground operations and expanded site services. We have finished the first round of community meetings across Labrador. We plan to revisit all of the communities again with even more information. Please join us at one of the information sessions to find out more about this exciting project and the potential employment opportunities that will be available in the future.

Community meetings in Southern Labrador
Labrador Aboriginal Training Partnership hosted community information sessions on the Labrador's south coast between October 24 and 26, 2016. The discussions included upcoming training and employment opportunities related to the underground mine expansion at Voisey's Bay. Vale will create 400 new jobs to support the under ground operations and expanded site services. Boyce Turnbull and Keith Jacque hosted the sessions in Cartwright, Charlottetown, Mary's Harbour, Port Hope Simpson and Forteau.
